DPS Playoff Preview

Fall

The regular season has come to an end as teams are getting ready for the playoffs! Check back here for updates as the playoffs progress. 

Football

Jordan

The Falcons sit at 10-3 overall with a 5-0 conference record.

They fell to Cleveland on the road in Round 3 of the playoffs on Friday, November 29th.

Last season the Falcons finished with an overall record of 8-4 and a 4-1 conference record. 

They made it to the second round of the playoffs but fell on the road to Hoggard.

 

Southern Durham

The Spartans sit at 10-3 overall with a 5-0 conference record.

They fell to J.H. Rose at home in Round 3 of the playoffs on Friday, November 29th.

Last season the Spartans finished with an overall record of 7-5 and a 5-1 conference record. 

They made it to the second round of the playoffs but fell on the road to Scotland.

 

Hillside

The Hornets sit at 7-6 overall with a 4-1 conference record.

They fell to Cardinal Gibbons on the road in Round 3 of the playoffs on Friday, November 29th.

Last season the Hornets finished with an overall record of 6-5 and a 5-0 conference record. 

They made it to the first round of the playoffs but fell on the road to New Hanover.

VOLLEYBALL

With volleyball at the end of the regular season here are some teams to look out for in the playoffs. 

 

DSA

The Bulldogs finished the season at 12-10 overall with a 8-6 conference record.

They fell to West Carteret in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday, October 22nd. 

Last season the Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 6-14 and a 5-10 conference record. 

They did not make the playoffs last season.

 

Northern Durham

The Knights finished the season at 15-8 overall with a 4-6 conference record.

They fell to Cleveland in the first round of the state playoffs on Tuesday, October 22nd. 

Last season the Knights finished with an overall record of 12-7 and a 5-5 conference record. 

They made it to the first round of the playoffs but fell on the road to Hoggard.

MEN'S SOCCER

Men’s Soccer Playoffs Regionals

DSA

The Bulldogs finished at 13-8-2 overall with a 10-4 conference record.

They fell to Harnett Central on the road in Round 1 of the playoffs on Saturday, November 12th. 

Last season the Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 9-8-4 and a 8-4-2 conference record. 

They made it to the first round of the playoffs but fell on the road to Southern Nash. 

 

Southern Durham

The Spartans finished at 21-3-2 overall with a 14-0 conference record.

They fell to Western Alamance on the road in the Regional Round of the playoffs on Saturday, November 19th.

Last season the Spartans finished with an overall record of 20-3-2 and a 13-0-1 conference record. 

They made it to the fourth round of the playoffs but fell on the road to First Flight. 

 

Jordan

The Falcons finished at 8-9-4 overall with a 17-2-1 conference record.

They fell to Apex Friendship in the Round 1 of the state playoffs on Saturday, November 9th. 

Last season the Falcons finished with an overall record of 5-8-4 and a 4-4-1 conference record. 

They made it to the fourth round of the playoffs but fell on the road to First Flight. 

 

Riverside

The Pirates finished at 12-8-3 overall with a 7-3 conference record.

They fell to Wakefield at home in Round 3 of the playoffs on Thursday, November 14th.

Last season the Pirates finished with an overall record of 8-11 and a 4-6 conference record. 

They did not make it to the playoffs last season.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Addie McDowell won the 4A Women’s Tennis Singles Championship on Saturday, October 26th at Millbrook Exchange.

McDowell defeated Myers Park’s Teagan Reilly 6-0, 6-2 in the championship match to clinch the championship.

McDowell also beat Cardinal Gibbons’ Celeste Davis 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday morning to reach the finals, and on Friday, she beat Charlotte Catholic’s Ella Davis 6-1, 6-1 and Broughton’s Rankin Barnhill 6-1,6-3.

This is the first NCHSAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championship for Jordan since alumni Scotti Thomas clinched the title in 1988.
