Carrington Student-Athlete Eligibility
Student EnrollmentÂ
Must be a regularly enrolled student at Carrington Middle SchoolÂ
Note: Sixth grade student are ineligible to participate in footballÂ

Attendance
A Player must meet he LEA attendance policy during the previous semester.Â
Must attend 85% (76.5 days) of both the previous and current semesters (not more than 13.5 days missed).
Student-athletes must attend at least 1/2 of the school day of a scheduled event, practice and/ or games. (Arriving after 12:00 PM or leaving before 12:00 PM and not returning counts as an absence).
AcademicsÂ
Student-athlete must maintain at least a “D” average in all classes. Student-athlete will be required to go to tutoring for the class in which he/she has a”D” average until the grade has become satisfactory (grad of “C” or better). Student-athlete will need “Academic Improvement Release” from filled out and signed by the teacher, head coach, and athletic director.Â
In grade six, seven and eight, the student must pass at least one less course than the number of required core courses each semester and meet promotion standards established by the LEA/Charter School.Â
Student-Athlete will NOT be able to PRACTICE OR PLAY until the grade below “F” becomes satisfactory.Â
Student-Athlete will need “Academic Improvement Release” form filled out and signed by the teacher, head coach, and athletic director before reinstated play.Â
If a student-athlete is “academically eligible” or “academically ineligible” at the beginning of any semester, that status is retained throughout the full semester. Must maintain athletic eligibility for the full semester.Â
Students with identified disabilities: student with a disability, an IEP, or a 504 plan may not be denied athletic team tryouts accommodations or modifications are necessary to provide the student with an equal opportunity to benefit. For example, a deaf student would require an interpreter for the deaf. A student with a disability, an IEP, or a 504 plan must meet all requirements that apply to the regular education student.Â
***NOTE: An athlete becomes eligible or ineligible on the first day of the new semester.Â

Student Conduct
Student-Athlete must not be guilty of misconduct during sporting matches.Â
The first discipline notice to Restorative Practice Center or OSS will involve the student-athlete missing all games and practices during the time of his/her suspension.Â
A second discipline notice to Restorative Practice Center will consulate the student being suspended from the team for a period of one week. He/she will, also, sit out 1/7 of the games for the season.Â
A second discipline notice of OSS will be up to the discretion of the administration or designee as to how the student-athlete is disciplined.Â
A third discipline notice to Restorative Practice Center will result in the student being expelled from the team or the remainder of the season.
Student-Athletes are expected to adhere to the rules stated in the Middle/Junior High School Athletic Manual. Continuing infractions to this will be handled at the coaches and Athletic Director’s discretion.Â
